The Native Lab Monocoque Design course is set to begin this April
As the automotive industry continues to shift toward electric mobility, the demand for composite parts and structures is increasing. This April 20 course will cover concept design to post-process, through DFMEA, detail design and structural analysis.

Beginning April 20, 2022, the next edition of The Native Lab’s (TNL, Madrid, Spain) Monocoque Design course will be full swing. After the three previously successful editions — TNL cites more than 100 students in total — the Managing Composites (Madrid) division is ready to help participants learn what the monocoque design process is like, from concept design to post-process, through DFMEA, detail design and structural analysis.
Why this course? The automotive industry is changing drastically, particularly with the shift to electric mobility, TNL says, and the demand for composite structural parts will be seen in more than supercars from here on out.
In order to deliver a high-quality course, TNL says it has picked some of Managing Composites’ best engineers to take the reins. Lluc Marti, Alejandro Batan, Marc Oliva, Eneko Angulo and Ignacio Carranza, who have a combined work experience with composites and monocoque design at companies like Koenigsegg (Ängelholm, Sweden), McLaren Automotive (Woking, U.K.), Prodrive (Banbury, U.K.) and Hyundai Motorsport (Alzenau, Germany), will be leading these course sessions.
The instructor-led course will be taught online and live to enable students to interact directly with the trainers. There will be a total of eight sessions, (outlined in more detail below) taking place on Wednesdays from 18:00 p.m. to 20:00 p.m. CET (12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. EST). These will begin April 20 and finish June 8.
Sessions include:
- Introduction and Basics of Monocoque Design
- Packaging and Primary Functions
- Concept Design and Secondary Functions
- DFMEA
- Detail Design
- Structural Analysis
- Pre- and Post-Processes
- Recap and Q&A
In case students cannot participate live they will have access to the recording of the live session. Access to all materials will be guaranteed for one year as well as a certificate of successful completion. The price of the course is €399 and it is taught in English. For more information contact The Native Lab at info@thenativelab.com.
The Monocoque Design course is also available within some course bundle offers TNL is launching. It can be combined with the Composite Materials and Catia Design Methodology (which is starting on April 12, 2022) courses. The course bundle offers have discounts up to 20%.
