At JEC World 2023, Gurit (Zurich, Switzerland, Hall 5, Stand L22) is displaying its suite of competances for the wind and ligthweighting industries, including new modular mold designs for wind turbine manufacturing and expansion of its Kerdyn recycled PET.

For the wind turbine blade industry, Gurit’s Manufacturing Solutions business will be highlighting a new modular mold design, which makes configuration conversions between blade designs simpler and faster. It also enables energy savings and shorter mold change times, and therefore shorter cycle times.

In addition, the company now also offers pultrusion via its company Fiberline Composites A/S, which produces structural profiles, pultruded coils, root connections and pultruded railings.

The company also stands ready to support the wind turbine blade repair community, with the versatile Ampreg cartridge dispense system System with no mixing and fast curing times, the Renuvo MPS UV-curing repair system which gets blades back into service promptly, along with an offering of training workshops at dedicated distribution centers.

In addition to wind energy, Gurit supplies advanced composite materials to the marine and industrial markets, including prepregs, structural core materials, adhesives, coatings, as well as laminating and infusion systems. Products include the SE75 prepreg line, which provides the performance of Gurit’s industry-leading SE84 prepreg with shorter cure times, Spabond 400 adhesives, Ampreg laminating systems, PRIME infusion products, and the AMPRO multipurpose epoxy system, which uses bio-based products as standard.

Gurit Kerdyn PET structural core will also be featured at JEC World. Gurit has expanded the materials available to serve as feedstock for this recycled product, providing more opportunities to remove plastics from the environment. It is a highly adaptable thermoplastic core material with a good balance of mechanical properties, temperature resistance, density and cost for a range of applications, including insulation within the building industry. It is said to be suited for panel solutions for marine, industrial and transportation industries, particularly with the introduction of Kerdyn FR, which complies with market needs for material with good Fire, Smoke and Toxicity (FST) properties.

Furthermore, new Corecell I structural foam offers well-balanced mechanical properties with high shear modulus and inherent toughness. With its low resin absorption and excellent thermal stability, Corecell I is a general purpose SAN core for marine and industrial applications.
