Diamond Aircraft acquires Volocopter after insolvency

On March 14 it was announced that Diamond Aircraft Industries (Wiener Neustadt, Austria) has integrated electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) company Volocopter (Bruchsal, Germany) into its portfolio. Volocopter’s headquarters will remain in Bruschal.

Volocopter filed for insolvency in December 2024 and began the search for investors to secure the company’s future in the advanced air mobility industry. Since then, Diamond Aircraft has stepped in to acquire it.

Diamond Aircraft is a subsidiary of Wanfeng Aircraft Division of Wanfeng Auto Holding Group Co. Ltd.. It is a general aircraft manufacturer with more than four decades of expertise operating internationally. The company’s reorganization of Volocopter will broadens its aircraft and business portfolio into the field of electric urban air transportation, while enabling Volocopter to reduce costs, retain a motivated and skilled workforce, and focus on achieving its certification milestones by 2025. The VoloCity, along with its next-generation variants and other models, are expected to continue to evolve successfully over the long term.
