Curve Works Receives Bureau Veritas Approval for 3D Composite Kits Made Via Reconfigurable Mold

Curve Works (Alphen aan den Rijn, Netherlands) announces its 3D Composite Kits have achieved Approval in Principle from Bureau Veritas | Marine & Offshore (Paris, France). Comprising shaped sandwich panels that can be assembled and bonded into a complete structure, 3D Composite Kits remove the need for a large mold. Instead, Curve Works uses its automated adaptive mold technology to create multiple parts from a single, reconfigurable system, eliminating time, cost and waste as no molds need to be disposed of after the parts and/or projects are finished.

“Bureau Veritas has kept us to high standards,” says Curve Works in its LinkedIn post, “but we can now say our kits are reliable, safe and compliant to the relevant standards in the maritime and shipbuilding industry.”

“The benefit for the naval architect and boatbuilder is that we can offer more freedom of shape, freedom of size and competitive pricing compared to alternative metal and composite building solutions,” the company continues. “We have built structures using the 3D Composite Kit before [see the 10 × 3-meter structure in the image above] but now they may be used in primary load-bearing applications as well.”
