Northern Light Composites (nlcomp, Monfalcone), specializing in the development of recyclable composite materials, has been selected to take part in the new edition of the Amazon Sustainability Accelerator, a 2-month program dedicated to consumer products that supports emerging European companies committed to product sustainability.
Now in its fifth year, the Accelerator brings together companies from five European countries, active in the personal care, food and beverage, materials innovation and circular design sectors. The program offers founders expertise in e-commerce, dedicated mentorship, logistics support through Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) and access to Amazon’s sustainability tools, as part of the company’s broader commitment to reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 under the Climate Pledge.
Nlcomp is participating with rComposite, the company’s patented, fully recyclable composite material developed for high-performance sport equipment — including surfboards, helmets and ski gear.
“The composites industry spent 50 years optimizing strength and weight, and never stopped to think about what happens when a product breaks: rComposite finally closes that loop,” says Fabio Bignolini, CEO and co-founder of nlcomp. The materials is reported to deliver a lower carbon footprint than conventional thermoset composites and is fully recyclable at end of life, offering a concrete alternative to fiberglass currently destined for landfill. It is also already well established in the nautical sector and has earned nlcomp nine international awards, including the World Sailing Technology Award.
Participation in the Amazon Sustainability Accelerator represents an opportunity for nlcomp to accelerate the commercial development of rComposite beyond the nautical sector, expanding its reach into the sport equipment market and sustainable consumption at a European scale.
