IMT Nord Europe (Douai, France), with the support of its industrial partners, announces the launch of COMPOLIS, a new research and innovation (R&I) hub dedicated to the advanced manufacturing of composite parts and structures, integrating digital solutions to address industrial, environmental and technological challenges.
The COMPOLIS initiative aims to bring together industrial partners around key challenges such as decarbonization through lightweight structures, composite functionalization via embedded sensors, infrastructure monitoring and material recycling. It combines several disciplines including:
- Advanced materials: Polymeric, composite, metallic and hybrid materials, with a focus on material functionalization, circular economy and end-of-life valorization.
- Optimized and connected structures: Design, sizing, multi-scale and multi-physics numerical modeling and manufacturing — sensor integration and validation testing up to full scale.
- Nondestructive testing and structural health monitoring: Embedded sensors, printed electronics, internet of things (IoT), AI, predictive maintenance and digital twins.
By combining multi-scale and multi-physics modeling, COMPOLIS aims to ensure a seamless transition from research to industrial applications.
COMPOLIS aims to build a network of engaged stakeholders to shape the industry of the future together. IMT Nord Europe and its partners are inviting companies, research and technical centers, and interested institutions to join this initiative and co-develop solutions tailored to industrial challenges.
