SAMPE China has announced the winners of its 2026 Advanced Composites Product Innovation Awards, recognizing developments in thermoplastic composites (TPC), hydrogen storage, aerospace structures, medical devices and advanced manufacturing technologies across China’s advanced composites sector.
The awards were presented June 10 as part of the SAMPE China 2026 program, with 13 projects receiving Innovation Awards and seven additional entries named finalists across four categories: Innovative Materials, Innovative Manufacturing, Innovative Design and Innovative Application. The program was open to innovations from across the advanced composites industry and included preliminary review and on-site presentations.
Within the Innovative Materials category, awards were presented to:
- Shanghai Huayi Resin Co. Ltd. for a high-temperature specialty epoxy diluent and its application in acrylic crosslinkers.
- Shenzhen Qingkuai World Technology Co. Ltd. for the design and preparation of vacuum-forming prepreg with high areal weight ratio and long out-life.
- Harbin Institute of Technology for a self-sensing and self-healing thermoplastic carbon/glass hybrid fiber composite for deep-sea cable applications.
- Beijing Satellite Manufacturing Factory Co. Ltd. for an ultralight, high-toughness and high-efficiency thermal protection material for commercial space return applications.
In the Innovative Manufacturing category, awards went to:
- iS-Bro (Wuhan) Technology Co. Ltd. for a continuous carbon fiber/PA12 hydrogen storage cylinder.
- Suzhou Aerospace Composites Technology Co. Ltd. for a high-performance TPC induction welding technology based on controlled oxidation and gradient imidization reactions.
- Tianjin Airtech Composite Materials Co. Ltd. for what was described as the largest domestic large-format composite 3D printing service.
- The School of Aerospace Engineering and Applied Mechanics at Tongji University for integrated manufacturing and application of an aircraft wing battery system.
- Lishi (Shanghai) Scientific Instruments Co. Ltd. for a high-temp/high-humidity mechanical performance testing system.
- Zhuhai Maixie Technology Co., Ltd. for a laser heating module for in situ curing of carbon fiber prepreg tape.
The Innovative Design award was presented to Hunan Longshen Hydrogen Energy Technology Co. Ltd. for a roll-to-roll continuous compression molding (CCM) membrane electrode slit extrusion coating production line.
In the Innovative Application category, awards were presented to:
- Jiangsu Junhua Special Polymer Material Co. Ltd. for a radiopaque continuous carbon fiber-reinforced PEEK spinal fixation system for medical use.
- The Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, for a compressed gas energy storage technology using a new working medium.
Taken together, the 2026 awards point to several themes shaping China’s composites sector: growing interest in TPC and welding technologies, continued work in commercial aerospace and space-return systems, increasing development of hydrogen and energy-storage applications and broader use of composites in medical devices, testing systems and digitally enabled manufacturing.
For SAMPE China, the awards program serves as a platform to highlight product and process innovation emerging from companies, universities and research institutes across the domestic composites ecosystem, spanning aerospace, energy, advanced manufacturing and high-performance structural applications.
