Composites recyclability promises are easy. Building the logistics, partnerships and economics to make recycling actually happen at industrial scale is the hard part — and it is exactly what Spiral Recycled Thermoplastic Composites B.V. (Spiral RTC, Enschede, Netherlands) is doing through its focus on advancing mechanical recycling methods and the formation of a business model that covers everything from waste collection to commercialization.
“There are many challenges and considerations when trying to scale from an academic lab process to an industrial recycling level,” Winand Kok, Spiral RTC co-founder, explains in CW’s article on the company. “There were — and still are — a lot of questions to answer.”
