The PET Foams division of Armacell (Brampton, Ontario, Canada) has been awarded the Factory of the Future label by Essenscia, recognizing the company’s strong commitment to innovation, digitalization, and sustainable performance.
This achievement reflects the advanced capabilities of Armacell’s Thimister-Clermont site in Belgium, where customized production lines, 3,000 real‑time measuring points and a manufacturing execution system (MES) drive Armacell PET Foam’s Industry 4.0 progress. The site was also awarded a Silver Medal in the EcoVadis sustainability assessment in 2024.
The company is celebrating 20 years of its ArmaPET range, backed by its rPET technology, which turns 100% recycled PET into innovative foam solutions for structural and insulation applications. Armacell PET Foams converts recycled PET bottles into long-lifetime, high-value foam core materials for composite sandwich structures used in up to 90-meter-long wind turbine blades, high-speed train body structures, surfboards, as well as on the 24-karat gilded roof of an orthodox cathedral; this range of products, driving progress across sectors from wind energy to transportation, has enabled the recycling of 5 billion PET bottles, and has prevented more than 272,000 metric tonnes of CO₂ emissions.
Designed to enhance efficiency throughout the manufacturing process, ArmaPET products also combine lightweight strength with durability, helping industries worldwide achieve optimal life cycle performance.
ArmaPET is exported worldwide. Additional innovations like ArmaPET Curve and ArmaPET Eco50 highlight its continuous transformation of plastic waste into lightweight, energy‑saving solutions for the composites industry.
