About Comfil Aps
COMFIL® has many years of experience within the field of development and production of thermoplastic reinforcement yarns and fabrics as well as downstream processed materials in the form of sheets, plates and profiles.
Development work is carried out in collaboration with our customers in a variety of industrial segments such as orthopedic, military, sports, aviation, automotive, etc.
Hybrid products from commingled yarns, combining reinforcement fibers (carbon, aramid, glass, HT-PET, PBO) and thermoplastic matrix fibers (L-PET, PET, PBT, PA, PPS, PP, PEI, PVDF, PEEK); yarns, fabrics, braids or multi-directional fabrics. Consolidated plates (organosheets) and sandwiches.
There is no need for complicated resin infusion techniques or the like, as all materials needed for a thermoplastic composite are present in the yarn or fabric. The only requirement for making a composite from commingled materials is heat and pressure.
COMFIL® offers fabrics woven from our commingled yarns. The melting matrix polymer is already mixed into the reinforcement fibers via the commingling process resulting in a fabric, that can be molded directly into a desired shape.
Commingled fabrics are easy to process into fully shaped and consolidated thermoplastic composites by using pressure and heat.
COMFIL® offers fully consolidated composite sheets ready for thermoforming. A wide selection of material combinations combined with customized press technology ensures that we can offer a thermoplastic composite sheet which will satisfy your needs.
A new generation of composite materials has been developed, where the fibers and the matrix are made from the same recyclable thermoplastic base material. This new type of composites is generally referred to as self-reinforced polymers (SRP).
SRP composites have a much higher ductility than standard composites.
Since SRP composites are made of a single polymer, they are 100% mechanically and chemically recyclable.
COMFIL® produces SRP composites as materials from yarns to sandwich sheets.
