The Society for the Advancement of Materials and Process Engineering (SAMPE, Diamond Bar, Calif., U.S.) announces Robert “Bob” Griffiths, as the winner of the SAMPE Mort Kushner Lifetime Achievement Award.

“Mr. Griffiths’ contributions in the developmental history of SAMPE and work toward globalization of the Society throughout the global composites community and through the many people he has mentored over the years are just some of the contributions that have greatly influenced the success of SAMPE,” says Nick Gianaris, Ph.D., PE, FASM and SAMPE global president.

Formerly named the SAMPE Space Award, the Mort Kushner Lifetime Achievement Award was established to recognize those who, over several years, have dedicated exceptional service to the Society and promoted SAMPE’s ideals. According to SAMPE, Mort Kushner (1922-1999) best exemplified the ideals of the volunteer spirit. A long-time enthusiastic member of the SAMPE Seattle Chapter, Mort was very active in both the local and international levels of SAMPE, spanning 40 years.
