Roccor / American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics

Roccor (Longmont, CO, US) announced May 22, Dana Turse, director of Space Deployable R&D programs for Roccor recently accepted the role as chair of the High Strain Composites Technical Subcommittee of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA, Reston, VA, US).

High Strain Composites are enabling an emerging class of deployable space structures that undergo large deformations while being tightly packaged for launch, and the AIAA High Strain Composites Technical Subcommittee is an open forum through which issues pertinent to HSC engineering are discussed and actions are taken to organize the HSC community.

Roccor is a disruptive aerospace supplier providing low-cost, high-performance deployable structure and thermal management systems technology for government and commercial space customers.

“Turse’s passion for High Strain Composites makes her a perfect fit for this new role,” says Doug Campbell, president and CEO of Roccor. “She is an inspiring member of the Roccor team and plays an important role in our work developing cost-effective products for the industry."

“I am honored to be elected to this position,” Turse says. “There are a lot of brilliant minds innovating in the area of High Strain Composites and I look forward to working with this community to advance the field.” 

Turse’s role as chair will be to help engage the HSC community of stakeholders to establish new engineering practices and standards for design and qualification of high strain composite structures. She will also coordinate efforts to promote widespread acceptance of the field as an emerging area of structural and material mechanics for satellites including promoting educational outreach, technological development, open communication, and a standardization of materials and testing.

At Roccor, Turse oversees a range of HSC programs from early stage product development through flight hardware delivery. She has several patents for high strain composite devices and a long history of collaboration with other companies and government research facilities throughout the industry where the technology is gaining use.

Prior to joining Roccor in 2016, Turse served as manager of deployable space structures and senior mechanical engineer at Composite Technology Development (CTD, Lafayette, CO, US), and prior to joining CTD, Turse received her degree in mechanical engineering from Colorado State University.

 

SGL Carbon

The Annual General Meeting of SGL Carbon SE (Wiesbaden, Germany) on May 29 appointed or re-appointed three members of the Supervisory Board. The longtime member of the Supervisory Board Mr. Dr. Ing. Hubert Lienhard did not run for re-election. Ms. Ingeborg Neumann, Managing Shareholder of Peppermint Holding GmbH, was elected as his successor. Mr. Dr. Daniel Camus and Ms. Dr. Christine Bortenlänger were re-appointed to the Supervisory Board.  

There were also changes to the employees’ representatives of the Supervisory Board. Seats were appointed or re-appointed as follows:  

Ms. Arnhild Broszio, Chair Works Council, Willich/Germany; Ms. Petra Brosowski, Trade Union Secretary IG Metall Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, Germany; Ms. Ana Cristina Cruz, Head of Integrated Management System, Portugal; Mr. Helmut Jodl, Chair Joint Works Council, Germany; Mr. Markus Stettberger, Chair Works Council, Meitingen/Germany; Mr. Dieter Züllighofen, Chair Works Council, Bonn/Germany. 

At the constituent meeting of the Supervisory Board following the Annual General Meeting, Mr. Georg Denoke and Mr. Helmut Jodl were elected as Deputy Chairs to the Chair of the Supervisory Board, Ms. Susanne Klatten. 

 

American Colors Inc.

American Colors Inc. (Sandusky, OH, US) announced May 17 that Matthew A. Kosior was named to succeed James Oram Wible as president of American Colors Inc. as of April 20. Mr. Wible, who is a co-founder of the company, retains the title of Chairman of the Board.

Mr. Kosior, a graduate of Case Western University with a BS in Chemistry and a MBA, joined American Colors in 1989 as a Lab Chemist. Over the years, he advanced to lab manager, vice president of Technical Operations and executive vice resident and CEO. Mr. Kosior has assisted in the expansion of operations in the US with two new facilities, Gallatin, TN, US and Seguin, TX, US, as well as a plant in Shanghai, China.
