Data Tools, Tape Options Broaden TPC Lineup
CAMX 2026: Avient is rolling out simulation-ready material cards, a new nylon 6 Polystrand tape grade and enhanced PET and HDPE tapes, alongside an expanded Complēt long fiber-reinforced TPC portfolio.
Avient Corp. (Avon Lake, Ohio, U.S.) is introducing new material cards, a new resin grade and enhanced tape products across its Polystrand thermoplastic tape line for composite applications spanning data centers, outdoor recreation, building and construction, and energy markets.
New Polystrand material cards support simulation-driven design for the company’s polypropylene-based, continuous E-glass fiber-reinforced unidirectional tapes, covering 60-70% glass content. The cards are compatible with Simutence simulation software — SimuQuick, SimuWarp and SimuDrape — as well as finite element analysis (FEA) platforms, and provide development teams a dataset for early stage material evaluation and benchmarking.
Avient is also adding a nylon 6 (PA6) resin matrix grade to its Polystrand tape portfolio, with 50-70% glass fiber content. The tapes are available in widths from 2-25", with laminates spanning 50-120", and are aimed at structural components in transportation and consumer goods applications due to their high strength, dimensional stability and processing versatility.
In addition, Avient has updated its Polystrand polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) tapes. The PET tapes are now designed to maintain structural integrity and mechanical properties at temperatures up to 85°C without performance degradation, positioning them for infrastructure and building and construction applications. The HDPE tapes offer up to 20% improved tensile strength, which Avient says allows engineers to optimize material use and reduce weight and cost in high-load applications such as pipe reinforcement and structural decking, without sacrificing structural integrity.
Avient will also highlight its expanded Complēt long fiber-reinforced thermoplastic portfolio, including new formulations with enhanced UV performance and pre-color, single-pellet options intended to maintain color stability, gloss retention and mechanical strength. Complēt moisture-resistant nylons, offered in PA6 and PA66 matrices, are aimed at lightweighting applications in automotive and powersports markets that require consistent structural performance in moisture-rich environments.
