TPI Composites deal with Nordex grows wind blade production
Extension of the 10-year collaboration with Nordex sees two new lines added to its Türkiye facility to serve domestic and export market needs.
TPI Composites Inc. (TPI, Scottdales Ariz., U.S.), a global company focused on innovative and sustainable solutions to decarbonize and electrify the world, has extended and expanded its supply agreements with wind turbine manufacturer Nordex in Türkiye.
Under the terms of the amended agreements, TPI will add two lines of manufacturing capacity for the production of wind blades, bringing the total capacity under contract in Türkiye with Nordex to eight lines serving domestic and export market needs. Additionally, the term of the agreements has been extended for up to 3 years through 2026.
The expansion of this relationship with Nordex in Türkiye “builds on our strong collaboration over the past 10 years and delivering cost-effective solutions to serve Nordex’s wider European market needs, including Türkiye,” Bill Siwek, president and CEO of TPI, says. “
TPI has manufactured wind blades for Nordex in Türkiye since 2013.
The wind blade manufacturer made additional announcements in 2023 that suggest growth in the wind industry. This includes new blade production lines at GE plants in Mexico in August 2023. Supply agreement expansion was also being considered earlier that year, and collaboration with GE on its next-generation blade types.
