Gallois SP2 Carbon Co. (Los Angeles, Calif., U.S. and Baden, Austria) is a joint venture between SP2 Carbon Technology Co. and Gallois Etablissements Gallois S.A. that specialize in the formulation of technical advanced carbon-based additives for high-performance composites, and graphite for specialty material applications.

In February 2022, SP2 Carbon sought to grow through a strategic joint venture partnership with Establissments Gallois (Madagraphite) that form Gallois SP2 Carbon USA Co. and Gallois SP2 Carbon EU GmbH. This alliance has enabled synergies on new technologies for the composites and graphite markets globally, with a primary focus on thermal and electrical conductivity via use of graphite, graphene and carbon-based materials technology. The partnership has also bolstered the company’s role as a global provider of natural, graphite-based carbon material for thermoset and thermoplastic composites, as well as graphite for existing and emerging industries. The company’s formulated additives for composites can provide EMI shielding, eliminate static discharge, increase thermal and electrical conductivity and fine-tune the dielectric constant.

Another agreement, recently announced in June 2023, has Gallois SP2 Carbon globally representing the Sino Polymer Co. Ltd.’s reactive resins product line. The MFE reactive resin product family features important technical characteristics that Gallois SP2 Carbon says can be transformational to the composites industry. Two key characteristics the company highlights:

  • A brominated bisphenol-A type vinyl ester resin product line (MFE 707A and MFE 705-01) that offers a high degree of fire retardancy (meets ASTM E84(I) Flame Spread Index standard), and chemical-resistant properties to a wide range of acids, alkalis, bleaches and organic compounds.
  • A styrene-free epoxy vinyl ester resin product line (MFE 700-01 and MFE 705-01) that is low odor, non-red label, environmentally friendly with excellent application processing properties that offer high resistant to a wide range or corrosive environments while providing toughness and fatigue resistance.
