Metyx (Istanbul, Turkey) announces Metybond, a self-adhesive reinforcement solution designed to streamline composite layup processes and reduce production time. 

Metybond features a precisely applied adhesive layer integrated directly into the reinforcement fabric, eliminating the need for spray adhesives, tacky tapes or additional fastening methods. It is compatible with a wide variety of reinforcement types, including carbon fiber, glass fiber (E-glass and H-glass) and hybrid multiaxial (noncrimp) fabric options, and can be used with polyester, vinyl ester and epoxy resin systems. Additionally, products from the Metycore range can also be converted into the Metybond format, offering further flexibility across different composite layup processes

The product’s formulation enables clean repositioning, uniform adhesive distribution and improved edge stability during handling, while also enhancing laminate performance by increasing mechanical and impact resistance. Its composition makes it especially effective in applications involving vertical or complex geometries, where consistent fabric placement is critical. Metybond is suitable for RTM, L-RTM, vacuum infusion and VAP; it is also automation-friendly, suitable for automated tape laying systems.

The adhesive, applied to one or both sides, is standard adhesive weight at 8-10 g/m² (adjustable: 8–25 g/m²) and 0.24-0.29 oz/yd² (adjustable: 0.24-0.74 oz/yd). Available formats include rolls or custom kitted formats with release foil.

Metybond achieves faster production, as it avoids spray adhesives and extra positioning steps. It is a clean, solvent-free application (no VOCs, overspray or health risks), prevents fraying or fabric distortion and holds in placed on vertical, curved or complex geometries.
