Diamond Aircraft (Wiener Neustadt, Austria) reported on June 24 that it is offering its all-carbon fiber DA50 RG aircraft to the market. Partnered with Continental Aerospace Technologies (Mobile, Alab., U.S.), the company says its spacious cabins, retractable gear and 300 horsepower Continental CD-300 jet fuel engine redefines expectations for single-piston aircraft in terms of space, luxury, efficiency and comfort.
According to Diamond Aircraft, the DA50 RG offers an all-carbon composite airframe and passive safety technology for high performance and occupation protection. The company also reports several features for optimal flight performance, including hinged double-slotted flaps for high lift, slow-speed behavior and drag reduction features. Further, CEO of Diamond Aircraft Austria, Liqun Zhang, notes that operating the aircraft’s Jet-A engine reduces emissions compared to low-leaded aviation fuels, and that the DA50 RG is a low-cost alternative for charter operators, and an option for private pilots requiring more seats and space.
The company notes internal features as well, including the aircraft’s Garmin G1000 NXi flight deck with a standard 3-axis GFC700 automated flight control system, combined with single-lever power controls to offer greater control and situational awareness, reducing pilot workload. Available in different colors and paint designs, DA50 RG is said to offer LED interior lighting and optional features, including removable right-hand control stick, oxygen system, electric air conditioning, a TKS de-icing system and more. Diamond Aircraft says luxury features for passengers include adjustable seat backrests, accessibility through the gull wing doors and cargo door.
According to Diamond Aircraft, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Type Certificate is on its way for late summer 2020, and FAA certification is set to start right after until 2021. Order books are open now with first deliveries commencing end of first quarter 2021.
