Chevy unveils the 2023 Corvette Z06
The 670-horsepower vehicle continues to make headway aesthetically and performance-wise with composite wheels, wing and aero bits.

Although we could tell you about the 5.5-liter, naturally aspirated V8 in the unveiled 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 that produces 670 horsepower, or the fact that the chassis for the Z06 is the same chassis that has been used since 2020 on the Corvette Racing C8.R, we won’t.
Instead, let’s focus on the composites involved:
- Carbon fiber wheels are available, which reduce unsprung weight by 41 pounds.
- There is an interior package that includes a carbon fiber-wrapped steering wheel, shift paddles and trim.
- A carbon fiber aero package consists of a larger front splitter, front-corner carnards, a pedestal mounted rear wing and underbody aero strakes.
- An available Z07 performance package — for those who are looking for massive downforce (i.e., 734 pounds at 186 miles per hour) — includes a carbon fiber high rear wing and ground effects.
According to Chevy, the car, with the carbon fiber wheels and the Z07 package, has a dry weight of 3,434 pounds. While that is actually heavier than a standard Corvette Stingray by 68 pounds (see CW’s coverage on this, Part 1 and Part 2), know that (1) the Z06 is 3.6 inches wider and (2) the Stingray’s 6.2-liter V8 produces only 495 horsepower.
