Bcomp Ltd. (Fribourg, Switzerland) has collaborated with Indian electric vehicle (EV) specialist Ather Energy (Karnataka) to imagine how natural fiber composite solutions can shape the future of two-wheel mobility. The result is Redux, a futuristic concept vehicle that incorporates ampliTex for a more sustainable design.

Ather Energy, founded in 2013 in Bengaluru, was one of India’s first electric scooter startups; the company has since sold more than 5,000 scooters. Redux is its latest experiment in material innovation, interface design and mechanical features. It combines the nimbleness of a scooter with the dynamics of a motorcycle, falling under the motor-scooter category. At the heart of its visual and structural identity are Bcomp’s flax fiber composites.

Redux is built on a lightweight aluminum frame with bodywork panels made from ampliTex. The flax fibers reduce bodywork weight while delivering the structural performance required for two-wheel vehicles. Beyond its 85% CO2 footprint reduction, ampliTex delivers to Redux a distinctive woven aesthetic and mechanical properties ideal for visible composite applications, aligning with Ather’s “inside-out” design philosophy that celebrates exposed components and minimal paneling.

“While Redux is a concept, it functions as a ‘living laboratory,’ giving us valuable insights that will inform future platforms as we continue to balance environmental responsibility with strong engineering and design integrity,” says Bikash Jyoti Biswas, head of design at Ather Energy.
