3A Composites Core Materials (Sins, Switzerland) has agreed to acquire Solvay’s (Alpharetta, Ga., U.S.) TegraCore polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) resin-based foam that will become part of the portfolio under the name Airex TegraCore. Both companies agreed to continue collaborating in further developments of the foam product.

“We are excited to complete our high-end portfolio with the acquisition of TegraCore foam, which was solely produced at our site in Switzerland,”  Eric Gauthier, CEO of 3A Composites Core Materials, says. “This product addition will reinforce our offering and allow further developments in markets targeted for this foam — the aerospace, marine and rail markets.”

Airtex TegraCore is a lightweight, recyclable PPSU thermoplastic foam with what is reported to be outstanding fire-retardant properties for complex shapes in environmentally demanding conditions. “Airex TegraCore will complete our high-end portfolio of Airex foam cores with outstanding FST [fire, smoke and toxicity] applications such as our Airex R82 and T90 foams,” Gauthier adds.
