Thermoplastic Rotor Sleeves: Building the Case for EV Motors

May 10, 2023 |

In this webinar, Trelleborg will present and discuss its recent thermoplastic developments in helping to extend the range and efficiency of electric motors through ultra-thin, high-strength overwinds.

Their focus will be on presenting their manufacturing methodology, automated fiber placement (AFP) and in-situ consolidation to achieve optimal fiber orientation and desired mechanical properties for rotor overwinds. Trelleborg's breakthrough in direct sleeves and overwinds offers the potential for smaller, more powerful motors with an increase in range and efficiency.

Agenda:

  • The case for thin-walled thermoplastic composite rotor sleeves and overwinds
  • Advantages of in-situ consolidation
  • Making electric motors more efficient
  • Use case discussion
  • Outcomes
  • Potential future state
