Duplicor biocomposite floor structures by Holland Composites (Lelystad, Netherlands) were used instead of concrete for this series production of 24 houses in Nijverdal, Netherlands. The floor uses recycled PET foam core and Duplicor prepreg skins comprising glass fiber and 100% bio-based resin, resulting in laminates with high thermal insulation (RC 7.4) weighing 35-45 kilograms per square meter — nearly a tenth of concrete — that withstand >140°C and achieve a fire class B S1 D0 per the NEN-EN 13501 SBI building standard. Typical 200-millimeter-thick residential floors handle 2.25 kilonewtons per square meter but can be customized for higher loads. With only three panels per house, Duplicor floors are more efficient to install than traditional concrete for faster construction and a lower environmental impact. Duplicor’s low MKI value (Environmental Cost Indicator) is €1.16 per square meter — 25% of an equivalent concrete floor. For more information, see Duplicor’s floor specifications.
