Smart Materials and Nondestructive Evaluation

April 26 - 30, 2020

As of March 16, SPIE hascanceled all of its in-person conferences currently scheduled through May 20, 2020, and moved them to a digital format. For more information, visit the event website: https://spie.org/conferences-and-exhibitions/smart-structures/nde?wt.mc_id=rss18gb&utm_id=rss18gb&SSO=1.

The major focus of this conference is materials, smart structures, sensor systems, NDE, and monitoring of renewable and conventional energy systems for energy production, energy mining, energy transmission, energy transportation, energy storage, and energy harvesting. We will bring together specialists from industry and academia to discuss topics that will help lead to a sustainable and environmentally friendly energy base for the future. Availability of energy is directly linked to well-being and prosperity across the globe. Meeting the growing demand to safely and sustainably supply more than seven billion people on earth who use energy each day is a key challenge addressed by the conference.

Our goal is to provide advanced materials and new measurement technology that can help build a reliable, environmentally friendly, and more robust energy infrastructure. We are interested in energy systems and their NDE/SHM across a wide range of scales from nano (e.g. ultra small health implants) to macro (e.g. a whole wind farm).
