CompositesWorld is a business-to-business media brand that produces a monthly print magazine, digital media, research and live events for the global composites market. The CompositesWorld editorial team and expert contributors produce information on new product technology, operational best practices, market intelligence and industry news.
Jeff Sloan has been editor-in-chief of CompositesWorld since 2006 and directs and manages editorial content for all of the brand’s products. Prior to joining CompositesWorld, Jeff worked for 10 years as editor and then publisher of Injection Molding, Modern Plastics and Plastics Machinery & Auxiliaries magazines. Jeff has also worked as a technical writer, and is a 1990 graduate of Colorado State University with a degree in technical journalism.
Sara Black, a senior editor with CompositesWorld, has been with the magazine, and its predecessor magazines, since 1999. She is responsible for developing and writing content for the print magazine and CompositesWorld’s website. Prior to 1999, she wrote technical content for two subscription-based magazines covering air, water and soil pollution remediation.
Ginger Gardiner, a senior editor at CompositesWorld, began writing for Composites Technology and High Performance Composites as a contributor in 2006. She was hired as senior editor of the now combined CompositesWorld publication in 2013. She is a co-author of the textbook Essentials of Advanced Composite Fabrication & Repair. Ginger has a degree in mechanical engineering from Rice University and began her career as a technical marketing representative in DuPont’s Composites Division for KEVLAR and NOMEX products in aerospace and marine applications.
Digital Managing Editor
Heather Caliendo serves as Digital Managing Editor for CompositesWorld where she writes and edits news and feature stories for the diverse segments of the composites industry. Heather joined Gardner after four years with UBM Canon, where she held a variety of editorial roles, including managing editor of PlasticsToday.com.
Peggy Malnati has been a contributing writer for CompositesWorld magazine since 2005 where she primarily covers automotive and ground transportation as well as infrastructure. She also has provided communications support for plastics and composites industry clients since 1984.
Michael R. LeGault is a former Washington Times columnist, editor at the National Post, and senior editor at Canadian Plastics. In 2002, LeGault received the Canadian Business Press Silver Award for Best Regularly Featured Column. He currently works as a project manager and technical writer for a company in the oil and gas industry, based in Houston, Texas.
Donna Dawson is senior writer emeritus for CompositesWorld and has been a contributor since 1995. In 2008, Donna was project editor for Aerospace Composites, a design and manufacturing guide, and has contributed to other composites and business publications since 1991. From 1980 to 1991, Donna was technical writer and then technical communications coordinator for Goldsworthy Engineering, under the direction of W. Brandt Goldsworthy
Bob Griffiths, a contributor at CompositesWorld, has been a consultant since 2001 and undertakes a number of business and technical activities, all involving composite materials. Previously he ran the manufacturing technology department at Westland Helicopter and later became a sales executive in GKN Aerospace. Bob is an active member of SAMPE, and served as that organization’s International President in 2007.
