A transformation has begun in commercial aerospace and will require rapid acceleration as the urban air mobility (UAM) market matures. The Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE) North America is proactively addressing this challenge by convening composites stakeholders from aerospace, automotive, wind power, electronics and more, to exchange perspectives, develop new networks and formulate business solutions.

The Materials Innovation & Advanced Technology Leadership Forum, sponsored by Airtech (Huntington Beach, Calif., U.S.), Janicki Industries (Sedro-Woolley, Wash., U.S.) and KraussMaffei (Munich, Germany), will be held Jan. 26-27, 2022 at the Kimpton Shorebreak Hotel in Huntington Beach, Calif. Themed under “The Industrialization of Composites Manufacturing,” the agenda includes a pre-event Short Courses and Market Overview, an in-person technical tour of GrayMatter Robotics (seats are limited; sign up here) and presentations led by U.S., European and Asian technology leaders (speakers are listed here) that cover three key areas:

  • Global advances in automation of composite materials manufacturing
  • High-rate processing and materials
  • New composites applications

The event will also be moderated by CompositesWorld’s editor-in-chief Jeff Sloan, Les Cohen from Maher & Associates and Dale Brosius, chief commercialization officer for the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI, Knoxville, Tenn., U.S.).
