The Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE, Diamond Bar, Calif., U.S.) has announced next year’s annual conference and expo dates and locations. SAMPE North America 2025 will be taking place in Indianapolis, Indiana, from May 19–22, 2025.

SAMPE selected Indianapolis for its business climate and location. For instance, 25% of the world’s greatest research universities are located within 500 miles of Indianapolis. This location is also considered to have the highest concentration of manufacturing jobs in the nation — one in five Indiana residents works in advanced manufacturing; it is the second location overall for automotive production (1.3 million cars and trucks produced annually); with $34.8 billion manufactured goods exported; 9,000 manufacturing operations and 500-plus automotive parts suppliers.

In addition, the state of Indiana’s aerospace and defense industries are robust, with more than $1 billion invested by major aerospace businesses since 2013, 38,000 engineers (46% above the national average) and 1,800 new jobs added by aerospace businesses since 2013.

“Meeting in Indianapolis was a very strategic decision,” notes Dr. German Reyes-Villanueva, SAMPE North America’s incoming 2025 president. “The state is long known as the crossroads of America with strong manufacturing and logistics activities in automotive and aerospace transportation areas. Of course, the surrounding area has a deep history in the automotive sector, with easy access to Chicago, Detroit, Columbus and areas in between. We can’t forget too, that the NCAA and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway are headquartered in Indianapolis. There’s a lot of reasons to exhibit here.”

SAMPE also cites some of Indianapolis’ more modern conveniences including a:

  • Modern convention center: This city is connected by skywalks to more hotel rooms than any other in the nation. Also linked to the center are a four-story urban shopping mall, restaurants and clubs, well-known sports venues and a 10-block state park that features top museums, green space and a convenient canal walk.
  • Thriving downtown: More than 300 restaurants, 50 major attractions and 250 acres of urban green space.
  • Hoosier hospitality: Indy was named the most “Underrated Food City in America” by Condé Nast Traveler.

The SAMPE conference provides an extensive and applicable programming for the advanced materials and processes industry. The education program includes a variety of sessions on new and emerging technologies and industry advances while also providing opportunities to source solutions for critical challenges.
