Spectronics Corporation (Westbury, N.Y., U.S.A.) offers the compact Spectroline C-100 high-intensity UV lamp, for NDT inspection in areas larger lamps cannot reach. About one-half the size of conventional UV inspection lamps (140 mm by 20 mm/5.5 inches by 8 inches), the 0.8 kg/1.75 lb system produces steady-state, long-wavelength (365 nm) UV intensity of 4,000 µW/cm2 at 380 mm/15 inches, equivalent to larger lamps. A magnetic ballast, weighing 5.4 kg/11.5 lb, provides power. Equipped with a pistol grip, the lamp emits visible light of less than two foot/candles, easily meeting current ASTM specifications, and it is UL-listed and CSA-approved.
