Webex Inc. has developed specialty rollers for the production of raw carbon fiber as well as prepreg materials.

Webex Inc. (Neenah, Wis.) has developed specialty rollers for the production of raw carbon fiber as well as prepreg materials. The rollers are engineered for each application and can be smooth or grooved for precision strand management. Rolls are stainless steel or carbon steel, depending on specific line locations. Some rollers offer special coatings to withstand the abrasion of carbon fibers and the corrosive nature of wash tank acids. When wear resistance is important, Webex provides chrome plating down in to the bottom of the narrow grooves. Optional coatings include electroless nickel, tungsten carbide and a variety of rubber covers and ceramics. All coatings and coverings have to be highly durable, yet smooth to avoid fiber snagging.
