3A Composites (Sins, Switzerland) has introduced the new AIREX T90.60, a very ligh structural PET core material. It features good fire resistance and low density (60kg/m3) until now associated with PVC and PU foams. Other features include high mechanical properties and long-term stability as well as very good insulation characteristics and moisture resistance. A very fine cell structure provides what is said to be best-in-class resin uptake. Target applications include interiors for railway, bus, aerospace and marine structures. Furthermore, the company sees potential for structural or semi-structural applications in architecture and construction including roofs, domes, mobile housing, shelters, claddings and furniture.
