GE Inspection Technologies (formerly Agfa NDT Inc., Lewis-town, Pa., U.S.A.) adds the Phasec 2d dual-frequency eddy current instrument to its portable product line. Enclosed in the same compact housing used on Phasec 2s and Locator 2s instruments, it measures 160 mm/6.3 inches by 138 mm/5.5 inches by 56 mm/2.2 inches and weighs only 0.95 kg/2.1 lb with battery. The device has a 320 x 240 pixel backlit LCD display. Its range of high- and low-pass and bandpass filters, 16 kHz sampling rate and split-screen spot/timebase display enable easy rotary mode inspections of fastener holes. The instrument also provides digital conductivity measurement (1 to 110 percent IACS) and nonconductive coating thickness measurement to 1.27 mm/0.050-inch.
