Huron Technologies Inc.

Huron Technologies Inc. (Leslie, Mich.) has developed Release Coating 7405, a new water-based mold release formulated for polyurethane low-gloss applications. The manufacturer says the release is particularly well suited for the manufacdture of automotive interior components, including armrests, instrument panels and door side panels. The material has passed the release agent has passed standardized paint adhesion tests, specifically the GM 4350 certification performed by external testing services. Gloss readings using a 60° angle gloss meter range from 1.0 to 1.2 on black interior components. Additional benefits include minimal build-up between mold cleaning cycles, a “dry surface feel” on finished parts and minimal scuff-and-mar surface characteristics.
