Noran Engineering Inc. (Westminster, Calif.) has released NEi Nastran V9.0 Windows x64, a finite element analysis (FEA) software suite designed to run on computers equipped with 64-bit Windows operating systems. The software contains Parallel Sparse Solver (PSS), a new parallel equation solver technology, designed to exploit the processing advantages of 64-bit technology (vs. 32-bit technology). According to the company, the program’s features include faster solution speeds, large model capability (15 million degrees of freedom), increased efficiency in the use of computing resources and a reduced need for “de-featuring.” The software reportedly can be used for all analysis types.
