Dassault Systèmes (Providence, R.I.) has announced new nonlinear structural optimization, coupled multiphysics and high-performance computing technology available in Abaqus 6.11, the company’s unified finite element analysis (FEA) product suite from SIMULIA. Version 6.11 marks the first release of the Abaqus Topology Optimization Module (ATOM). This add-on product enables Abaqus users to perform topology and shape optimization for single parts and assemblies while taking into account large deformation, material nonlinearity and contact. Another improvement includes support for graphics processing units (GPU), which allows the user to run more design candidates and provides a 2x speed increase for a range of models and industries.
