Ashland Composite Polymers (Dublin, Ohio, U.S.A.) introduces two new products to its cast polymer product line: MAXGUARD CG-40-0009 marble clear gel coat contains 40 percent HAP, making it SCAQMD Rule 1162-compliant. Its proprietary polymer, designed to improve on the performance of existing neopentyl glycol (NPG)/IPA chemistry, reportedly enabled the gel coat to exceeded 3,000 cycles in recent ANSI thermal shock testing for cultured marble. It has high color clarity immediately after spray application with non-atomizing equipment, and resists yellowing, the company says. POLARIS MR 84330-16 resin, formulated for automated casting of cultured marble and onyx applications, develops green strength quickly, allowing for quicker demolding.
