Materials Sciences Corp. (MSC, Horsham, Pennsylvania) is emphasizing agreement with Wilson Sporting Goods to explore mutual technology opportunities in the sporting goods space. MSC is an engineering design and testing firm, founded in 1970, and focused on high-performance composites. MSC also has operations in Greenville, South Carolina and performs research work for NASA, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), US Departments of Defense and Energy, and the commercial sector.

  • More and more composites blowing in the wind

Wind energy is putting the uncertainty that was the hallmark of this industry in the rearview mirror. Electricity from this renewable resource is cheaper and more competitive than it's ever been — and getting more so. This massive consumer of composite materials has a bright future.

  • Composites 101: Fibers and resins

Compared to legacy materials like steel, aluminum, iron and titanium, composites are still coming of age, and only just now are being better understood by design and manufacturing engineers. However, composites’ physical properties — combined with unbeatable light weight — make them undeniably attractive.

  • Ceramic matrix composites: Hot engine solution

Disruptive designs for composites operation in 1093°C zones.
