3D Systems Corp. (Rock Hill, S.C.) has introduced the high-definition ProJet SD 3000 3-D Printer for professional in-office model-making. The printer uses 3D Systems' patented and proprietary Multi-Jet Modeling (MJM) technology and is designed to provide high-quality parts with smooth surfaces and small feature detail. It can be used for concept development, design verification, form-fit testing and product presentations. The machine uses a single-pass printhead design for large footprint parts or full platform builds of smaller parts.

Also new from 3D Systems is the iPro 9000 SLA Center, a new professional stereolithography system for the production of ultrahigh-definition Pro-Parts from its integrated portfolio of proprietary Accura Plastics. The device features a next-generation ProScan digital scanning system equipped with a SteadyPower imager, designed to deliver what is said to be consistently reliable output for optimal performance and repeatability comparable to the performance exhibited by traditional CNC centers.
