Wisconsin Oven Corp. (East Troy, Wis., U.S.) has introduced a novel IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) predictive maintenance technology designed to optimize oven efficiency. Wisconsin Oven says the technology, supplied by DataSense Technologies (Tamil Nadu, India), is capable of monitoring the performance and health of components on the ovens via sensors that can track conditions such as vibration, temperature, current and pressure. The system also features a gateway to collect performance data from these sensors.

Through the addition of the performance monitoring system, Wisconsin Oven says maintenance can be scheduled for an oven well before a failure occurs. The company notes that although oven thresholds are factory-set to protect the equipment, customers can work with Wisconsin Oven to set thresholds to indicate alarm conditions specific to their needs. When thresholds are exceeded, the system will send an alert to designated personnel. The service team can then use this information to predict component failures before they happen, further minimizing unscheduled downtime and increasing productivity and profitability.
