CompositesWorld is presenting a free Autodesk-sponsored webinar on May 28 at 2 pm ET, titled, "Automotive Lightweighting using Advanced Materials."

Abstract: As automotive OEMs accelerate efforts to comply with the US Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards by the 2025 deadline, composite materials offer an opportunity to significantly reduce the weight of a vehicle while still meeting strength requirements. In order to explore lightweighting opportunities with advanced materials, simulation is essential. However, because of the construction of these materials, you must use the manufacturing process to drive material properties to get accurate structural simulation results. Using Autodesk Moldflow and Autodesk Helius PFA you can bridge the gap between manufacturing simulations and structural simulations.

Primary topics covered in this webinar include:

  • Determining fiber orientations with Autodesk Moldflow
  • Understanding the nonlinear material behavior of as-manufactured materials
  • Map as-manufactured properties for structural simulation
  • Complete structural simulations of fiber reinforced plastic parts

The presenter will be Doug Kenik, production line manager for simulation at Autodesk. Click here to register for this free webinar.
