Instron (Norwood, Mass.) has introduced its new SATEC Series 2000KN universal testing machine. It has a capacity of 2,000 kN (200,000 kgf/450,000 lbf) and can perform tension, compression and flexure tests on high-strength materials, including composites, metals, fasteners and wire. It features a single, large test space that is said to make it easy to provide different stroke lengths and extended test openings to suit unique applications. It also features a variable pressure hydraulic power supply that reduces noise and heat generation. There is no need for water cooling. Open-faced, high-capacity grips are optional.
