Advanced composites solutions provider Total Composite Solutions (TCS, Hampshire, UK), and Brabham Automotive (Adelaide, Australia) are pleased to announce a strategic partnership in advanced material and process development for current and future vehicle builds.

“Our partnership with TCS will allow us to engineer to the highest standards of vehicle engineering,” says Christian Reynolds, director of Brabham Automotive. “This strategic relationship will deliver true innovation on the vehicle aesthetic through bespoke carbon designs for our customers.”

With the new partnership, TCS will utilize its material technology and processing, including prepregs, advanced resins and adhesive systems, to develop bespoke lighter, stiffer structural and cosmetic material solutions for Brabham.

  • Forged composites replace complex metal parts

Powerhouse manufacturer’s high-pressure compression molding process forms prepregged CFRP components with forged-metal properties.

  • 787 integrates new composite wing deicing system

The composite wing leading edge on Boeing’s Dreamliner features an integrated heating element that incorporates a sprayed metal conductive layer within the laminate stack.

  • Composites 101: Fibers and resins

Compared to legacy materials like steel, aluminum, iron and titanium, composites are still coming of age, and only just now are being better understood by design and manufacturing engineers. However, composites’ physical properties — combined with unbeatable light weight — make them undeniably attractive.
