Royal Engineered Composites installs composites machining center

Royal installs a 6.5 by 2.5 by 1m composite machining center built by Flow International.

Royal Engineered Composites (Minden, Neb., USA) announced on Nov. 16 the successful installation of a composite machining center (CMC). The CMC, built by Flow International Corp. (Kent, Wash., USA), is the first ever Class B machine to be built.

The Class B CMC offers both a 5-axis router and a 5-axis abrasive waterjet cutting arm with an envelope of 6.5 by 2.5 by 1m (21.3 by 8.2 by 3.3 ft). The CMC machine will be used to cut and drill parts and is expected to help Royal develop larger scale manufacturing opportunities.
