Re:Build Manufacturing accelerates onshoring with Cutting Dynamics acquisition
Acquisition of Ohio-based manufacturer, Cutting Dynamics, helps to expand fabricated structure product and service offerings.
On May 4, Re:Build Manufacturing (Framingham, Mass., U.S.) announced the acquisition of Cutting Dynamics Inc. (CDI, Avon, Ohio, U.S.), which the company says will significantly expand Re:Build’s product and service offering as part of the Re:Build Advanced Materials Group. This follows the acquisitions of composites fabricator Composite Resources (Rock Hill, S.C., U.S.) in March 2021 and Oribi Manufacturing (Commerce City, Colo., U.S.) in late 2020.
CDI is an AS9100-certified manufacturing business that brings more than 35 years of experience in design, engineering and production of metallic and thermoplastic composite structures and assemblies, with a strong emphasis on the aerospace, defense and industrial markets. CDI’s capabilities are reportedly a strong complement to the other Re:Build Advanced Materials Group product and service offerings, which already include Oribi’s high-rate thermoplastic composite components and advanced thermoset structures and assemblies from Composite Resources. According to Re:Build Manufacturing, the convergence of these brands brings a unique mix of product and service offerings in fabricated structures together with a highly customer-centric culture and organization.

According to Miles Arnone, CEO of Re:Build Manufacturing, the company’s goal is to invest in the growth of manufacturing businesses in North America, and to help re-establish the ability to compete in this critically important part of the economy. “With CDI, we now have a unique and well-developed array of manufacturing processes and services to support our core markets, and we have a platform to build out additional capabilities in support of other Re:Build theses, including Re:Build Total Production Solutions and Re:Build Engineering,” Arnone says.
“With CDI, we now offer design, engineering and fabrication of a wide range of structural materials and components, not limited just to composites,” Steven Mead, president of Re:Build Advanced Materials Group concludes. “This supports our ‘right material, right application’ theme, and also provides a platform to bring some of our more disruptive technologies to targeted market segments.”
