Novator gets Boeing order

The Swedish supplier of orbital drilling systems continues its relationship with the aircraft OEM as 787 production ramps up.

The Boeing Co. (Everett, Wash.) has placed an order for portable Orbital Drilling equipment from Novator (Stockholm, Sweden) for the 787 Dreamliner production in the Everett, Wash. facility. Following successful implementations of portable Orbital Drilling systems on the Boeing 787 production lines in Everett during 2011, 2012 and 2013, Boeing has placed an additional order for portable Orbital Drilling equipment.

“Our equipment has proven to cut time in production and increase hole quality. It therefore plays an important role in supporting Boeing’s production ramp-up of the 787 Dreamliner,” says Hans-Petter Andersson, Novator’s CEO. The equipment will be delivered during 2014 and 2015.

Novator is an engineering company focused on providing efficient drilling solutions based on, but not limited to, the patented Orbital Drilling technology. Novator’s technology is designed to address challenging advanced materials such as carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) and titanium, materials that many companies have difficulty drilling. Novator holds a number of patents around the world that are directly related to Orbital Drilling and hole production. Patents relate to methodology, equipment and accessories.
