MVP announces rebranding, new logo to emphasize capabilities; Huntsman epoxy adhesive wins Germanischer Lloyd approval; HEATCON launches new website for students and faculty.

Citing its increased expertise in small- and large-part closed molding technologies and techniques, Magnum Venus Plastech (MVP, Clearwater, Fla., USA) is changing its corporate identity, logo and website to more accurately reflect its expertise and capabilities. “MVP is the very definition of Innovative Flexibility”, says Tom Hedger, president. “Our 100-plus years of combined experience, coupled with our ability to respond to growing and more diverse applications across a broad spectrum of industries such as aerospace, defense, energy, infrastructure and recreational vehicles, with a multitude of standard products and engineered solutions for new and advanced composite materials, sets us apart from any other equipment manufacturer in the composites industry.”

Huntsman Advanced Materials (The Woodlands, Texas, USA) reported on Oct. 3 that it has received approval from Germanischer Lloyd (GL) for Araldite AW 4856/Hardener HW 4856 Fast, an epoxy adhesive system designed for the manufacture of wind blades and large composite parts. The material has been certified by GL as a Duromeric Adhesive, comprising good thixotropic and low exothermic properties. Offering increased toughness and fatigue resistance in applications requiring load bearing strength, this adhesive also reportedly provides good adhesion under adverse application conditions.

HEATCON (Seattle, Wash., USA) has launched its new website, This new website will be used as an informational hub, online registration portal and a communications tool for HEATCON's registered students and faculty. The website currently provides information on course offerings and schedules, and will soon be adding a section on news/trends affecting the composites industry. This website has been designed to increase the efficiency in training registration and the communication efforts with the company's customers.
