Carbon Fiber 2011 conference set for Washington, D.C.

CompositesWorld, publisher of High-Performance Composites and Composites Technology magazines, announced on May 16 that the Carbon Fiber 2011 conference will be held Dec. 5-7 at the Washington Marriott Hotel in Washington, D.C.

The co-chairs for this year’s conference are Steven Carmichael, director of sales, Grafil/Mitsubishi Rayon Co. (Sacramento, Calif.), and Tom Haulik, carbon fiber sales manager of Hexcel (Stamford, Conn., USA). This international conference is designed for executives from leading fiber suppliers, end users, fiber converters, prepreggers and composites parts manufacturers to discuss the current supply and demand situation for carbon fiber as well as the future prospect for growth of new carbon fiber composite applications.

Kicking off this year’s conference will be a keynote presentation on recent developments with carbon fiber composites use at Airbus by Bruno Beral, head of structure policy and development, engineering structure. More than 140 marketing executives, business development specialists, technical directors and industry analysts attended the 2010 conference in La Jolla, Calif., USA, where they explored the regional outlook for traditional markets, such as aerospace, commercial aviation and sporting goods, as well as the growing demand from industrial markets for carbon fiber, such as wind energy, construction, CNG and hydrogen storage tanks, marine and automotive applications.
