Carbon Fiber 2010 agenda finalized

The agenda is set for CompositesWorld's Carbon Fiber 2010, Dec. 7-9 at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines in La Jolla, Calif.

CompositesWorld, publisher of High-Performance Composites and Composites Technology magazines, as well as the CompositesWorld Weekly newsletter, has announced finalization of the agenda for the Carbon Fiber 2010 conference, Dec. 7-9 at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines in La Jolla, Calif., USA. Co-chairs of the conference are Tom Haulik, carbon fiber sales manager at Hexcel, and Tom Lemire, western regional manager at Toho Tenax America.

This international conference is designed for executives from leading fiber suppliers, end users, fiber converters, prepreggers and composites parts manufacturers to discuss the current supply and demand situation for carbon fiber as well as the future prospect for growth of new carbon fiber composite applications.

The agenda for the conference includes a two preconference seminars, one on use of carbon fiber in automotive applications and the other the annual report on carbon fiber supply and demand. Other agenda topics include carbon fiber in the BMW Megacity Vehicle, carbon fiber use in wind blades, capital markets for carbon fiber, carbon fiber in propulsion, research and development, export control, compression molding, flywheels, recycling and several other topics.

Most recently added to the agenda is, "Advances in Compression Molding Carbon Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastics," presented by David Manten, CEO of Dutch Thermoplastics Components BV. Manten will provide an overview of advances in compression molding with materials such as carbon-PPS and carbon-PEKK in variable thicknesses. He will present information on a rib for an aircraft rudder that has been manufactured and evaluated.
