LANXESS announces compounding plant; STRUCTeam moves to new location.

Speaking to international journalists at a Düsseldorf, Germany press conference during the run up to the recent K 2010 plastics fair, LANXESS (Leverkusen, Germany) management board member Dr. Werner Breuers revealed that the company is constructing a compounding plant at its production site in Jhagadia, India, for two engineering plastics, Durethan (polyamide) and Pocan (polybutylene terephthalate), at a cost of more than €10 million ($12.7 million USD). The move is intended to strengthen the firm’s market position in Asia, specifically in China. The plant should commence operation at the beginning of 2012.

STRUCTeam Ltd. (Isle of Wight, U.K.), a composites structural-engineering and supply-chain consulting business that serves the wind blade and yachtbuilding industries, has moved into new offices on the island, in the town of Cowes. Founded by ex-Gurit CEO James Austin along with Julien Sellier and Radek Michalik, both former Gurit senior composites engineers, the company made the move to accommodate the additional personnel it recently hired to provide composite materials and design/engineering skills to the company’s growing client base.
