On Aug. 30, Boston Materials (Billerica, Mass., U.S.) announced that it has opened a new headquarters location in Billerica, Mass., signifying the next phase of growth for the company. The custom-designed facility is said to provide a manufacturing footprint that can support nine-digit revenues, enabling large production scale, and will also create a number of new jobs to support the company’s future plans. Known for its patented Z-axis Fiber technology, a lightweight material with high energy dissipation properties that is produced from reclaimed carbon fiber, Boston Materials says it enables manufacturers of industrial and consumer products to create highly differentiated, energy-efficient products that have a low carbon footprint.

The new 40,000-square-foot, two-story facility was designed with the goal of creating a collaborative, flexible and efficient space for the Boston Materials team to grow in. The modern industrial building features an open floor plan layout with exposed ceilings and high bays, and 270 degrees of windows, providing a flood of natural light. The first floor houses the factory, which includes Boston Materials’ proprietary production lines, downstream conversion processes, warehousing and machine shops. The second floor features office space, huddle rooms, state-of-the-art labs for product and advanced material development and quality inspection.

“The opening of our new headquarters is a significant step for the future of Boston Materials,” Michael Segal, COO of Boston Materials, says. “The new facility will unlock high-volume capabilities to support the key industries that we work with, including transportation and electronics. We look forward to growing our team and business at this new facility.”

With the move to the new headquarters, Boston Materials plans to create 60 new jobs in Massachusetts over the next two years. Additionally, the company says it will have technology immersion programs to train manufacturing operators in advanced materials production. Boston Materials will also have the ability to expand upon existing operations at this location in the future if needed, an opportunity that enables the company to continue to grow, quadrupling manufacturing throughput, within the same facility.

Boston Materials’ new headquarters is located at 8 Federal Street, Ste A, Billerica, MA 01821.
