Archer Aviation Inc. (Covington, Ga., U.S.) has shared an update on the construction progress of its high-volume manufacturing facility in Covington, GA, reaffirming an expected 2024 completion date.

The facility, located adjacent to the Covington Municipal Airport, is in the advanced stages of construction. Archer recently completed the first build phase, including grading and foundation work, and is nearing the completion of phase two, which involves the erection of exterior walls and roofing. The upcoming phases will focus on interior fit-out and the installation of equipment and power systems.

In preparation for the facility’s completion, Archer showcased its Midnight aircraft at Atlantic Aviation’s new terminal at DeKalb–Peachtree Municipal Airport. The event was attended by government officials from Georgia’s Office of the Governor, Congressional Offices, City of Atlanta, State Legislature, Federal Aviation Administration, and other local governments.

Once finished, the nearly 400,000-square-foot facility will support Archer's goal of producing up to 650 Midnight aircraft annually, positioning it as one of the largest aviation manufacturing facilities by volume. Archer is collaborating closely with Stellantis to mass-produce the Midnight aircraft.

Adam Goldstein, CEO and founder of Archer, commented, “Thanks to the hard work of the Archer and Stellantis teams, we’re tracking towards completing this manufacturing facility by the end of the year. Once complete, we’ll focus on ramping production up to 650 aircraft a year—our goal is to be the first in the eVTOL industry to achieve scaled manufacturing.”

The Midnight aircraft offers a sustainable, low-noise alternative to ground transportation, capable of traveling at speeds up to 150 mph and designed for short flights with minimal charge time.
