Agenda taking shape for conferences at COMPOSITESWORLD Expo 2008, Sept. 2-5

The agenda is nearly set for the two conference tracks that will be held in conjunction with the COMPOSITESWORLD Expo show in September, in Schaumburg, Ill.

COMPOSITESWORLD (Wheat Ridge, Colo.), publisher of Composites Technology and High-Performance Composites magazines and the COMPOSITESWORLD Weekly e-newsletter, in cooperation with owner Gardner Publications Inc. (Cincinnati, Ohio), has announced that the agenda is nearly set for the two conference tracks that will be held in conjunction with the COMPOSITESWORLD Expo September 2-5, 2008, at the new Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel & Convention Center in the Chicago suburb of Schaumburg, Ill.

The conference presentations at COMPOSITESWORLD Expo 2008 will focus on the principles of design and manufacture of composite materials. This program will be designed to attract an audience of end-users of composite materials to the show.

There will be two tracks. The Beginners' track will introduce those familiar with traditional materials-engineering industries, such as metal working, to the properties of fiber-reinforced composites. Other principles covered will include CAD/CAM design and manufacturing with composites and the fabrication processes that work best for various designs, including compression and infusion molding; resin transfer molding (RTM), vacuum-assisted RTM (VARTM), and light RTM (LRTM); prepreg with autoclave curing; and other consolidation processes. The Advanced track will begin with an overview of FEA design and manufacturing software, such as CATIA and FIBERSIM, and how it can be integrated into product development and tooling systems for advanced composite design and processing, including complex ply books, automated fiber placement (AFP) and automated tape laying (ATL) systems.

Designed to showcase the composites industry's extraordinary technological and end-market breadth in a single trade event, COMPOSITESWORLD Expo pairs a world-class exhibition with a two-track conference concept designed to provide practical, hands-on information about composites processing technologies and materials.
